In all its spaces and events, ReBiLy is committed to providing a respectful and inclusive environment for everyone, regardless of employment status (permanent, fixed-term, PhD student, freelance…), gender, sexual orientation, origin, disability, beliefs, or level of experience. The coordination team is responsible for upholding this code across all network spaces.
Scope
This code applies to all ReBiLy communication and exchange spaces: the mailing list, discussion channels (TChap, Matrix, or any future tool), in-person and remote meetings, and any communication made on behalf of the network.
Expected behaviours
- Treat everyone with respect, regardless of their seniority or experience.
- Welcome different perspectives and constructive criticism with openness.
- Give proper credit for ideas, methods and contributions — especially when they circulate informally within the network.
- Respect the confidentiality of exchanges: information, results or projects shared within ReBiLy spaces must not be disclosed without the explicit consent of those involved.
- Report to the coordination team any behaviour that appears to violate this code.
Unacceptable behaviours
The following are not tolerated:
- Harassment in any form: demeaning language or conduct, intimidation, insults, repeated unwanted contact.
- Discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, origin, religion, disability, professional status, or any other characteristic.
- Plagiarism or misappropriation of work: presenting someone else’s idea, result, tool or code as one’s own.
- Professional disparagement: publicly criticising a person’s work, competence or career in a malicious or disproportionate way.
- Sabotage: any deliberate action intended to harm the scientific activities or career of a community member.
- Unauthorised disclosure of unpublished results, confidential data or personal information shared within ReBiLy spaces.
- Condescending or exclusionary behaviour towards people with less experience, from different disciplines, or from outside academia.
Reporting
Any breach of this code can be reported to contact@rebily.fr. Reports are handled with discretion and confidentiality by volunteer members of the coordination team, excluding any situation in which they are themselves involved. Good-faith reports will never be held against those who make them.
Consequences
Where a breach is established, the coordination team may take whatever action it deems appropriate: a reminder, a formal warning, temporary suspension, or permanent exclusion from ReBiLy spaces.
